Post Game Thoughts: Jets Beat Rams 27-13

The Jets beat the Rams by the score of 27-13 today improving their record to 4-6 before their game on Thanksgiving night with the Patriots. Lets break down what worked for the Jets

1. Sanchez Better Than Bradford

I thought that this was Sanchez’s second best game of the season ( the best was the game against the Pats in New England). He was going through his reads extremely well and was very accurate today. It would be nice to see this more often from the 4th year QB

Bradford on the other hand was rattled by the Jets. He seemed to be solely looking for Amendola and it really hurt him. The QB play was the most important key to victory for the Jets today

2. Muhammad Wilkerson

Mo Wilkerson really made his presence felt today. He was constantly getting in the backfield, disrupting the run game and Bradford. This was really impressive to see and if he could keep this going, then perhaps they would not have to blitz all the time in order to pressure the QB.

3. Jets Defensive Gameplan Won the Game

Rex Ryan devised an excellent game-plan for stopping the Rams. He put a lot of bodies in the middle of the field and when Bradford was looking for Amendola (which seemed like he was every play), Lankster did not let him get any yards after the catch, which is where Amendola makes his money. I guess you could say that the Jets gameplanning for Welker twice a year really helped the Jets in this game.

What’s Next: Jets will be playing on NFL Network on Thanksgiving Night to play the division rival Patriots at home. More coverage on this game to come tomorrow

Does Alex Rodriguez Remind Anyone Of Mark Sanchez?

Last night after starting off 1 for 2 the struggles reappeared for A-Rod.  He waved at a pitch thrown by Darren O’Day way out of the strike zone and grounding out softly his next at bat. After each of these at bats the boo birds just kept growing, and the facial reaction after those at bats was one of sadness and giving up. But that face looked so familiar to me, and after a while I figured that it was the same face that Mark Sanchez has made way too many times this year for the New York Jets.

That face of helplessness is why the outer shells of both of these New York superstars are so similar, but they also have in common that one already has lost his job, and the other is close to losing his job.

Alex Rodriguez was benched today by the Yankees in the sudden death Game 5 vs the Orioles. Instead Joe Girardi decided to “go with his gut” and play Raul Ibañez at the DH position instead. This tells you all you need to know about the confidence Joe has in his “star” player that they will be paying huge sums of money to for the next 10 years. He is helpless and has no clue what to do to get back on track.

On the other hand, after a great week 1 for Mark Sanchez it has gone downhill rapidly for the 4th year QB. Every Jet fan is waiting for him to mature and stop making those rookie mistakes that he continually makes on a weekly basis. It is safe to say that if he does not perform this sunday vs Andrew Luck and the Colts there is chance he will be riding the bench as well.

These two fabricated superstars are both riding in the same direction and maybe Joe Girardi’s move of benching A-Rod gives Rex a reason to bench his starting QB as well

Do you agree that Mark Sanchez and Alex Rodriguez are too similar?

David Wilson Making the Most of His Opportunity

In the second quarter of the game on Sunday Andre Brown took a hand off and got roughed up by the opposing defense and was down on the floor. Because of that injury Ahmad Bradshaw ended up having a big game, but more impressive was the face that David Wilson came in as the second RB and had a 40 yard rushing TD. He finished with two rushes for 44 yards and a TD

David Wilson has been really impressive the last two weeks. Last week David Wilson made his impact in the return game accumulating 217 yards on 6 kick returns and consistently looking like he was about to break one to the house. If he continues to run the ball, using his speed to go North and South, the Giants fans should be seeing him on the field a lot more.

Why Jets 2-3 Start This Year Is Different than Last Year’s

From F*ck Yeah Mark Sanchez Tumblr

On the last play of the game Mark Sanchez was looking for a miracle by throwing a pass and hoping to lateral it to the end zone but they could not even get the ball to the receiver. It was a symbol of the whole night. Complete frustration on the offensive side, and a good performance on the defensive side of the ball.

The Jets loss to Houston last night brought them to 2-3 on the season, which happens to be the same record as they had last season after 5 games. Although most people believe that the Jets are doomed like they were last season I see a total different direction from this 2-3 team rather than last year’s team.

The Jets team unity is moving the right way after a loss against the Texans last night. If you remember the Jets went to 2-3 last year after a miserable loss to the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. After the game, Derrick Mason said there were cracks that needed to be fixed, and also later on that week Mahnish Mehta of the Daily News reported that Plax, Tone, and Mason went to Rex to ask for the removal of Brian Schottenheimer.  This year on the other hand, instead of splitting apart, it seems to me like they are coming together. There is no blaming any one person on the team for their loss last night. Instead the Jets are going down together. For example Brian Costello of the New York Post tweeted right after the game that Mark Sanchez went to Jeff Cumberland, who must have been in a very foul mood after dropping the pass that led to the game sealing interception, and told him that he played his ass off. That would not have happened last year. This is a different team that really wants to succeed. Mark Sanchez wants to become the leader of this offense and that simple pat on the back shows me he is working towards doing that.

After the game the talk from the players was all about how they had that game in their hands and gave it up. They continually kept showing disappointment and made sure to express the point that mediocrity is not accepted on this team. Last year the players would blame people for their mediocre play, but this year they are looking for solutions to their problems. Overall though, the fact that they are united excites me as a Jet fan and I know that they will fix the cracks on both sides of the ball that were showed last night.

Initial Thoughts on the Jets Loss to 49ers

So ye that sucked. The Jets got rocked by the 49ers today by the score of 34-0. There is so much to say that I will not be able to fit it into this whole article, but lets start somewhere.

1. Time for a QB Change

Mark Sanchez looked as bad as I have seen him since coming to the Jets today. At times he was holding the ball for too long, or at other times he was overthrowing his receivers. Worst of all I thought he had no chemistry with any of his receivers. That is unacceptable in this league. The Jets should have at least been able to score a TD with all the chances they had in the first half. Instead, Rex Ryan would not want to put in Tebow because he is scared of a QB controversy. Unacceptable.

2. Jets Defense Played Average At Best

The linebackers on the Jets are very old. Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace on the outside seem like they have no chance against the opposing blockers. In the middle David Harris and Bart Scott seem like they cannot plug the hole to block the running lanes. Also I thought that Kyle Wilson played terrible today. Although no one that was on him scored a TD, he got beat at least 4 times today and luckily Alex Smith had no touch on his long ball today.

3. Where is the urgency?

Out of all things today i was more dissapointed by the fact that the Jets showed no urgency to prove the world wrong. Everyone picked the 49ers to win because they thought that the Revis-less Jets would not be able to do it. Well they were all correct, but I was expecting Rex to motivate them by bringing up all the haters and to play a little above their heads today. I was totally wrong and at times it seemed like they did not care to be on the field at all. It might be time to start over all together. There will be more to this later this week.

What To Take From Giants Win

Last night the Giants destroyed the Panthers by the score of 36-7 to get to 2-1. Lets break it down:

1. Andre The Giant and Prince Ramses

The Giants controlled every portion of the game yesterday and it started with the running game. Andre Brown rushed for 113 yards on 20 carries and score a touchdown. If he keeps this up Ahmad Bradshaw should be worried about his job security.

Ramses Barden had an awesome game as well. The thing I saw that I liked was the fact that he was able to get off of press coverage rather well. I am sure we will see a lot more playing time for him in the coming weeks

2. The Giants Defense Was Awesome

Stopping Cam Newton is not an easy task, but the Giants made it look so easy. They stopped the running game of the Panthers and forced Cam to abandon the run and throw the ball for the rest of the game.

3. Martellus Bennett Is a Top Tight End

Martellus had another touchdown last night. He now has 3 on the season, and is a big part  of the red zone package for the Giants. His size and speed are abnormal and the Giants are usuing him in the right way

What’s Next: The Giants have 13 days off before going to Philadelphia to face the Eagles

3 Keys For Tonight’s Game

Taken From Tumblr

Tonight the Giants take on the Panthers on national television for their second game in 5 days. Here are the keys to the game

1. Run the Football

this is the key to the game for the Giants. Running the football takes the burden off of Eli Manning, especially since Hakeem Nicks is out. Also it keeps Cam Newton off the field. Andre Brown is going to have to have a big game for the Giants to be able to control this game

2. Generate A Pass Rush

For the past two games, the defensive line has been close but not fully there yet. For the Giants to be successful they will need to hit Cam Newton, and they will need to force him to stay in the pocket and make his reads. If he manages to escape the pocket it could be a long day for the Giants

3. The Safety Play

With Prince Amukamura coming back it takes a little of the burden on Antrelle and Kenny Phillips off them, but Prince is not 100% yet so the safeties will need to be on their game especially vs a team that loves to throw the long ball like the Panthers. Look for Cam to keep attacking Prince Amukamura and we will see if Antrelle and Kenny could help him out

Prediction: Panthers 34 Giants 27. I think that the injuries to the Giants will really hurt them this week. Cam will have a great game. On the Giants look for Andre Brown to have a big game though

What To Take From Jets Week 1 Victory

So the Jets kinda shut up the critics didn’t they? If you have not heard yet, the New York Jets beat the Bills by the score of 48-28 yesterday. Heres a breakdown

1. Shonn Green Stinks

I will start with the ugly because there was not too much of it in this game. Shonn Greene did not impress me one bit in that game yesterday. For a team that is looking to ground and pound he needs to be able to break out some big runs and he was consistently in the 3-5 yard run range. Not enough in my opinion

2. This Is Mark Sanchez’s Team

The one thing I got from yesterday’s game is that this is Mark’s team. The Jets will go as far as the Sanchise takes them. Yesterday other htan the interception in the beginning of the game, he was spot on. He threw two beautiful touchdown passes to Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley had a nice one also.

3. The Jets Defense Looked Great

The Jets defense was swarming Fitzpatrick in the first half of the game. Once the score got out of hand the Jets eased up.They were consistently jumping routes, as you saw with the 3 picks. Also on top of that Landry and Bell looked awesome as the safety tandem. Finally, I thought the front seven was creating a lot of pressure. 28 points is never good but in a closer game I am sure it would be a lot less.

What’s Next: The Jets take their talents to Pittsburgh to play in the nationally televised CBS game. Starts at 4:25. Another week of teams not believing. Be prepared Jet fans

Preview: Jets vs. Bills

Tomorrow, the day Jet fans have been waiting for since that miserable ending in Miami last year. The Jets will be hosting the Bills for their opening game of the season. I know everyone is looking to see what Sparano has in store for us with the Wildcat, but in my opinion here are the 3 keys if the Jets want to win

1. Successful Press Coverage

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a QB that thrives on the 3 step drop and throw. The way to prevent him from being successful is by pressing the receivers and making him take some 5 step drops and 7 step drops. Historically, the reason Ryan Fitzpatrick has been so miserable when he plays the Jets is because of the success of this game plan. The Jets need to execute this tomorrow

2. Ground and Pound

This might seem a little obvious but it is even more important in this game vs the Buffalo Bills. Mario Williams is forced to be reckoned with and without a successful run game it will be a long day for Mark Sanchez. In order to throw him off guard the Jets will need to run the football early and often, in order to lead to the play action later on.

3. Get Santonio Involved Early

As everyone knows, Santonio has a tendency to doze off on plays if he isn’t thrown the ball to early in the game. Tone is the Jets lone playmaker on offense and in order for him to succeed and stay focused, Sanchez will need to look for him when passing early on

(P.S No Predictions This Year. Since Rex stopped predicting so will I)

What To Take From the Giants Loss vs. the Cowboys

Well that was not fun for Giant fans. The Giants put up a stinker on Wednesday night losing to the rival Cowboys by the score of 24-17. Lets break this game down for you:

1. The Giants Offensive Line Woes Have Emerged

The Giants offensive line tonight was terrible. In the passing game it seemed like Eli Manning had to step away from pressure the whole game. He was flustered. Especially David Diehl looked extremely slow tonight vs. DeMarcus Ware. In the running game there were really not a lot of holes for Bradshaw to go through if any at all.

Just a terrible performance.

2. The Giants DL Got Tired

The Giants came out looking like the defense that they were during that Super Bowl run last year, but the losses of Marvin Austin, Shaun Rodgers, and other key pieces really hurt them after the half. You saw the push that Rocky Bernard was getting at the beginning starting to fade away as the game went on, and that led to bigger holes for DeMarco Murray to run through.

Once they get healthy they should be a dominant defense again.

3. Ahmad Bradshaw Does Not Hit The Hole

Although the offensive lineplay was poor i felt as if Bradshaw was going east and west a lot more than north and south. In English, he was not hitting the holes when there were holes. Maybe he has lost a little burst but he struggled for most of the night due to his inability to hit the hole when it actually emerged.

4. Victor Cruz Had a Terrible Game

3 dropped passes, an illegal block and a couple of false starts. That is unacceptable. I understand that he was pumped for this game, but there should be no reason for him to be making those mistakes. The Giants need him and I thought Cruz’s miscues was as much a cause for this loss as the offensive line

5. Lets End On a Positive

With all the injuries the Giants were dealing with it was impressive to see them stay in the game for this long. It was only a matter of time before Romo started exploiting the terrible cornerback situation the Giants put themselves into. On top of that, you cant blame Eli because the Cowboys defense was just a lot better tonight. Finally on a closing note, Jason Pierre-Paul looked great. He disrupted a couple of plays from Tony Romo, but could not get the big sack.

What’s Next: The Giants take their talents to Tampa Bay next week to play the Bucaneers @ 1 PM.
